Artistic Background

My venture into the world of art began many years ago with an interest in sketching, which led me to take a short course in life drawing. From this I moved on to study botanical painting, a discipline that taught me a great deal about the 'craft' of painting with watercolours. However, I soon began to want to experiment with other media and other subjects.

My main love is painting flowers - both the fairly precise and ordered discipline of botanical art, and the more interpretive form of floral painting.

Underlying much of my work is my fascination with colour. The theory and use of colour is of importance to all painters, and it is an area that I find absorbing - if a little frustrating.

As my collection of paintings grew, it became impossible to keep track of them, and when my husband suggested creating a website it seemed an ideal way of keeping a record of my efforts over the years. What you see before you is a collection of my output over many years - I hope you enjoy browsing.
